Students are required to take all of the courses offered: Coral Reef Ecology, Cultural and Environmental History of Bonaire, Tropical Marine Conservation Biology, Independent Research Project in Marine Biology and Ecology, and Fundamentals of Scientific Diving Research Methods.

Total recommended credit is 17 semester/25.5 quarter hours.

Summer Courses:

Marine Biology and Ecology of the Southern Caribbean (Session I) - Total recommended credit for the Session is 3 semester/4.5 quarter hours. Total contact hours for the program are 45 hours. The final syllabus for the course is given to students upon arrival in Bonaire. Instructors: Dr. Rita Peachey and Caren Eckrich

Fundamentals of Scientific Diving Research Methods (Session II) - In this course, students learn to use scuba as a research tool instrumental to understanding the underwater environment. The course focuses on diving physics and physiology, diving safety, mastering research scuba techniques, developing mapping skills, and learning to record and collect data underwater.
