
Dr. Rita Peachey is the Resident Director in Bonaire. She received her B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Zoology from the University of South Florida and her Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from the University of South Alabama. Dr. Peachey’s research focuses on ultraviolet radiation and its effects on marine invertebrate larvae and is particularly interested in issues of global change and conservation biology. She teaches Independent Research and Cultural and Environmental History of Bonaire. Dr. Peachey is president of the Association of Marine Laboratories of the Caribbean.

Professor Caren Eckrich is the Coral Reef Ecology Faculty and the Dive Safety Officer for CIEE. She holds a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries from Texas A&M University and a M.S. in Biological Oceanography at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez. Caren is the instructor for Coral Reef Ecology, Marine Ecology Field Research Methods and Advanced SCUBA. Caren’s research interests include fish behavior, seagrass and algal ecology, sea turtle ecology, and coral disease and she is currently working on a study of algae that over grow corals in Lac Bay. |

Anouschka van de Ven is the Assistant Resident Director for CIEE. She is a PADI Dive Instructor and she assists with Advanced SCUBA and the Cultural and Environmental History of Bonaire courses. She has a B.A., First Class Honours Degree in Communications Studies, from the London Metropolitan University and worked in television and advertising in Amsterdam before moving to Bonaire. Anouschka provides administrative support for the research station and is responsible for the website and public relations. She is also a volunteer operator at Bonaire's hyperbaric chamber. |

Dr. John Claydon is the Tropical Marine Conservation Faculty. He received a B.Sc. in Marine and Environmental Biology from St. Andrews University in Scotland and a M.App.Sc. in Tropical Marine and Fisheries Ecology from James Cook University in Australia where he also received a Ph.D. which focussed on spawning aggregations of coral reef fishes. John spent almost 3 years exploring reefs in Papua New Guinea to collect data for his thesis. His research interests include spawning aggregations of coral reef fishes, spatial ecology of groupers, nursery habitat enhancement for groupers and spiny lobsters, the red lionfish invasion, migration of reef fishes and reef fish fisheries. John teaches Tropical Marine Conservation Biology and Independent Research. |

Dr. Annemarie Kramer is the marine ecology research professor and lab manager. She has a MSc and PhD in zoology from the University of Salzburg, Austria and has specialized on biology and ecology of Caribbean reef fishes. For her PhD she studied the biology and ecology of gobies in Curacao and published on their reproductive behaviour, morphology and associations with shrimps.

Amy Wilde is the Administrative Assistant for CIEE. She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, as well as, a Masters of Science in Management Administrative Sciences in Organizational Behavior, from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has worked in call center management for the insurance industry and accounting for long term care while living in Texas. Amy currently provides accounting and administrative support for staff and students at CIEE and she is the student resident hall manager. |

Marta Calosso joined CIEE Research Station in October 2011 as an Educational Specialist & Research Associate. Marta holds a Master of Research in Applied Fish Biology from the University of Plymouth, UK, and aMaster of Arts in Humanities & Philosophy from the University of Milan, Italy. Her research interests include ecology of sharks, turtles, reef fishes, with a particular focus on invasive lionfish, and connectivity of mangroves, seagrass, and reef habitats. In Bonaire, she is working with local schools and after school programs where she teaches classes and develops activities on local environment and critical issues faced by the Caribbean region. She is also conducting research on habitat preference of rainbow parrotfish around the island. |

Jason Flower is one of the semester interns. He has just finished his masters degree in Tropical Coastal Management at Newcastle University in England during which he carried out research into Tobagonian fishersí livelihood security and attitudes to management. He has worked as a PADI Dive Instructor for the past 6 years in several locations including Honduras, Grand Cayman, Greece and Tobago, where he ran the dive operations for a reef conservation organisation. His experience also includes two years teaching English in Latvia. |

Fadilah Ali recently graduated with a Masters in Environmental Science from the University of Southampton where she specialized in Biodiversity and Conservation. She is currently continuing her studies at Southampton to pursue a PhD in Ocean and Earth Science. Since 2009, Fadilah has been conducting research on the lionfish; focusing on their feeding ecology and socio-economic impacts. As part of her research, she used Bonaire as a case study by analyzing the invasion and subsequent management of lionfish in Bonaire in order to suggest the best plan of action for her home country, Trinidad and Tobago; a Caribbean country yet to be invaded by lionfish. She has since extended her research to do a more comprehensive analysis of the ecological and socio-economic impacts of lionfish in the Caribbean and also aims to find a way to stop their invasion! . |

Christina Wickman is the Coral Reef Ecology Intern. She recently received her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from the University of Oregon. In the fall of 2008 she was a student at CIEE Bonaire, where she looked at the possibilities of predicting coral bleaching around the island. Her research interests include coral reef ecology, coral reef preservation and public education of tropical reef ecosystems. |

Scott Hausmann, diving control board member Scott does everything from scientific advising…to painting and hanging shelves….to diving with our visiting scientists….to fixing the plumbing when we can’t find a capable plumber. He is a Dive Medic and is one of the supervisors at the hyperbaric chamber in Bonaire when he is not at his farm in Wisconsin and is often consulted on issues concerning our Dive Safety Program. Scott has a Master’s degree in Limnology and is an avid diver and scientist. He is very interested in mapping and saving the coral reefs in Bonaire. |

Pahle Hausmann, volunteer gardener Pahle retired to Bonaire recently because she love’s Bonaire and has been coming here since she was a child. Her beautification project at the station began this past spring and the station is looking better than ever. She has certainly seen a lot of changes over the years and is always happy to chat about it all especially if you are willing to pick up a shovel or hoe and help out. Pahle is a certified Bonairian tour guide and is also concerned with conservation and has been vegan for the past 15 years. She provides special meals for CIEE students when necessary. |
